Quick answers for common questions
Triner Scale FAQ
There can be several reasons for inaccurate weight readings on your scale. If the readings are stable and repeatable, your Scale may simply need to be recalibrated. Otherwise, check the following:
• Inspect the Home Run Cable — Look for visible damage or loose connections on the cable that could affect the scale’s signal. The most common reason is a damaged or loose cable connecting the scale platform to the Indicator. Inspect both ends of the scale’s cable for visible wear or broken connectors. Replace the cable if needed
• Check for Obstructions — Make sure there’s no debris or material buildup under the scale platform.
• Verify Leveling — Ensure the scale is placed on a level surface.
• Adjust the Leveling Feet — Confirm all four corners of the Scale have equal pressure on the leveling feet.
• Check for Interference — Make sure the platform isn’t touching or rubbing against nearby objects.
A quick inspection and recalibration usually corrects most accuracy issues. If your Scale still doesn’t display the correct weight, contact Triner Scale Support for assistance.
There can be several causes for this issue:
• Check the Power Source — Make sure the outlet your scale is plugged into is working properly. Try another device in the same outlet to confirm power.
• Inspect the Power Supply — Look for damage to the scale’s power cable or adapter. If damaged, replace or contact support before using the Scale again.
• Press and Hold the Power Button — Some scale indicators require you to press and hold the ON/OFF button for several seconds before turning on.
• Keypad Issue — The indicator keypad on the Scale may be worn or need replacement. Our keypad troubleshooting guide can be found HERE (https://b13da3ca-c649-4feb-b1a2-77d09fceb2fa.usrfiles.com/ugd/b13da3_704d7076e64647cb80e7c168c43a3af5.pdf)
• Main Board Damage — If the scale’s main circuit board (PCB) is damaged, the indicator may not turn on and will require factory service.
If your scale indicator turns on and then shuts off right away, there are a few possible causes to check:
Check the Battery — If your Indicator has an internal battery, it may need to be replaced. A weak or failing battery can cause the scale to power on briefly and then shut off. (Link to bypass battery pic with description here)
• Inspect Power and Cables — If your scale doesn’t use a battery, check the home run cable and power cord for damage or loose connections. A faulty or intermittent cable can cause the Indicator to lose power.
• Verify Power Source — Ensure the outlet or power strip your Scale is connected to is working properly.
If your scale indicator still turns off after checking these items, contact Triner Scale Support for troubleshooting or repair assistance.
If your weight display is unstable or the weight on your Scale keeps jumping around, there are a few common causes:
• Check the Home Run Cable — The most common reason is a damaged or loose cable connecting the scale platform to the Indicator. Inspect both ends of the scale’s cable for visible wear or broken connectors. Replace the cable if needed.
• Inspect the Power Supply — A weak or failing power adapter can cause erratic readings on the Scale display. Try another power supply if available.
• Eliminate External Interference — Make sure the scale platform isn’t vibrating, sitting on an uneven surface, or exposed to drafts or machinery vibration.
• Check for Moisture — Water or condensation inside the Indicator or junction box can cause unstable readings. Allow the Scale to dry before use.
If your scale display still isn’t stable after checking these steps, contact Triner Scale Support for assistance.
If your scale display shows OVERLOAD or UNDERLOAD, it usually means the Scale is receiving incorrect signals from the load cells or cables. Check the following:
• Inspect the Home Run Cable — A damaged, pinched, or loose cable between the scale platform and the Indicator can cause false overload or underload readings. Examine the entire cable for cuts, pinches, crimps or bent spots and replace it if needed.
• Check the Load Cells — A faulty load cell can send incorrect weight signals to the Scale Indicator. Make sure all load cell connections are tight and the scale platform is not binding.
• Verify Platform Condition — Ensure the scale platform is clear of debris and not physically overloaded beyond its rated capacity.
If your scale still shows overload or underload after checking these items, contact Triner Scale Support for assistance.
To check for a bad load cell, you’ll need a volt meter or multimeter to measure resistance (ohm) readings. Follow these steps:
• Disconnect Power — Turn off your Scale Indicator and unplug the scale before testing any connections.
• Access the Load Cells — Locate the load cells under the scale platform and disconnect their wiring from the junction box or terminal strip.
• Take Ohm Readings — Using your volt meter, measure the resistance between each Load Cell’s excitation and signal wires. Compare the readings across all load cells. A significantly different value may indicate a bad cell. Our load cell testing guide can be found HERE (https://b13da3ca-c649-4feb-b1a2-77d09fceb2fa.usrfiles.com/ugd/b13da3_704eaeb40c134be09a42a06245afd38a.pdf)
• Inspect for Physical Damage — Look for cuts, pinches, crimped cables, corrosion, or moisture around the Load Cells and wiring.
If you’re unsure how to interpret your readings, contact Triner Scale Support for step-by-step guidance or replacement options.
